Find Relief from Excess Sweating with Botox

Our targeted treatments work by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that activate overactive sweat glands, significantly reducing perspiration in areas such as the underarms, hands, feet, or face. This safe and effective procedure can improve comfort, prevent sweat-related skin irritation, and boost confidence in social and professional settings. Results are typically long-lasting, offering months of freedom from excessive sweating and its impact on daily life.

Understanding Hyperhidrosis and its Treatment

Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterised by excessive sweating beyond what the body needs to regulate temperature. It can affect specific areas such as the underarms, hands, feet, face, or scalp, and often occurs even when you’re not hot or exercising. For some people, hyperhidrosis is primary (caused by overactive nerves that stimulate the sweat glands without a clear reason), while in others it is secondary to medical conditions such as thyroid disorders, diabetes, menopause, or certain medications. Triggers can include heat, stress, anxiety, caffeine, or spicy foods, but symptoms can also appear without any obvious cause. This constant or unpredictable sweating can impact comfort, clothing choices, and confidence, but effective treatments are available to help regain control.

The Science of Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Botulinum Toxin A works by temporarily interrupting the nerve signals that activate sweat glands. In people with hyperhidrosis, these nerves are overactive, sending constant “produce sweat” messages even when the body doesn’t need cooling. When carefully injected into the affected area such as the underarms, palms, soles, or face. Botulinum Toxin A blocks the release of acetylcholine, the chemical messenger responsible for stimulating sweat production. This reduction in gland activity can dramatically decrease sweating, typically within days, with results lasting several months before gradual nerve regeneration restores function. The treatment is localised, meaning it only affects the treated area without impacting the body’s overall ability to regulate temperature.

Preparation and Aftercare

Before your hyperhidrosis Botulinum Toxin A treatment, it’s best to prepare by arriving with clean, dry skin in the treatment area and avoiding deodorants, antiperspirants, body lotions, or oils on the day of your appointment. Shaving or hair removal should be done at least 24–48 hours beforehand to minimise skin sensitivity. If you take blood-thinning medications or supplements (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, or fish oils), check with your doctor about whether these should be paused in advance to reduce the risk of bruising. Staying well-hydrated, avoiding excessive caffeine or alcohol on the day, and wearing loose, comfortable clothing can all help ensure a smoother, more comfortable treatment experience.
